4 in a Row Tips & Tricks
Protect Your Winning Spaces! As you play, take a peek around the board to see if you can spot any groups of three chips in any direction. If you can, drop one of your chips to block off that fourth spot! If you can’t immediately block the space, or if the winning space is on the second row, be careful not to drop your chip below that winning spot.
Control the Center of the Board! Since any horizontal or diagonal string of four chips must include a piece from the center column, it’s super important to set up as many chips as you can in the center early on in the game. This will give you more options to connect four chips.
Pay Attention to Your Opponent! As you play, take note of your opponent’s moves. After a few rounds, you’ll start to see patterns and can use that information to make your next move. For example, if you see your opponent setting up a row of two with open spaces on each side, block one of the sides with your chip to prevent them from setting up a winning row.
Plan Ahead! 4 in a Row is a strategic game, just like chess! Think about your moves in advance and consider how your opponent will respond. Try to distract them by forcing them to block your moves elsewhere.
Go for the Figure 7! If you can arrange your chips in a “7” formation, you’re guaranteed to win! Try to connect horizontal and diagonal lines of three with two blank spaces at the end of the horizontal line. This will make it look like you’re about to win, and your opponent will have to block that space, giving you the chance to complete the diagonal line and win the game!
I hope these tips and tricks help you become a 4 in a Row master!
